 SUSANA DOMINGUES Susana holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts from Ryerson University. She is credited with having taught the majority of Vancouver's local Tango teachers as well as numerous other teachers on the Canadian West coast. Susana's dancing has accompanied the musical performances of Tango stars such as Daniel Binelli and Argentino Ledezma. She has performed in Tango demonstrations with the cream of the world's Tango dancers and was recently in TV commercials for Zales Jewelers and Armstrong Flooring. Since her arrival in Vancouver, Susana has spawned a whole new crop of talented Tango dancers. Between teaching sessions Susana makes regular trips to Latin America to continue her study of dance. With over 20 years of dancing Tango and the help of a long line up of mentors and instructors, Susana has developed a system of teaching which is clear, concise and the most direct path she knows to getting students on the dance floor with this wonderful art form we call Tango. It all started when she happened to see Juan Carlos Copes and Maria Nieves of the the Broadway hit "Tango Argentino" tangoing in a 15 minute entertainment TV news segment in 1985. It was at that moment that she decided, "That! That, I have to do!" A year later she began dancing in Toronto, months after "Tango Argentino" had performed there. By 1989, her Tango dancing was featured at La Classique du Montre al, ranked at the time as one of the world's 3 most prestigious Ballroom competitions. continued >> |
