BEGINNER COURSE:
No partner or previous dance experience is required to attend. Partner switches occur about every 5 mins, every class. Each course covers mostly tango with additional basics for two other dances played at tango socials: Milonga and Tango/Vals. There are 30 patterns in Susana's beginner syllabus. The beginner syllabus is divided into three different beginner courses offered each year.
If you are just starting, it is inadvisable to enroll if you will be missing class #1 or #2, since these are when the fundamentals are taught. Course offers a progressive curriculum - each week builds on the next. By taking a thorough approach in learning the fundamentals, students are surprised by how much they are able to learn as the course progresses.
By the end of a beginner course, students have built a vocabulary of figures, as well as walking and turning patterns, useable for dancing socially.

INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED COURSE:
Prerequisites: 2-3 of Susana's Beginner Tango curriculums are recommended. There are an endless number of steps in Susana's intermediate/ advanced syllabus. A completely different set of steps is shown each season this level is offered, Partner switches occur every 5-10 mins, every class. Each lesson includes review of steps covered the previous week plus new material. Students learn new exercises, designed to pollish a dancer's movements. Courses begin with intermediate level patterns and end with advanced patterns. More difficult step patterns introduce exciting new elements such as ganchos, boleos and displacements and often incorporate several movement concepts at the same time. This provides exciting contexts in which to re-enforce the fundamentals. Leaders increase spontaneity by learning to link steps together without the use of basic.
